For many, choosing accessories is like mission impossible. There’s so much to choose from and you don’t want to make a mistake. Take the stress out of accessorizing by using this simple checklist.

When you’re out and about and see something you like for your room, ask yourself these questions.

• What about color?
  Does the color or colors of the accessory work in your design? It doesn’t necessarily have to match exactly, but a blending color would be nice.
  
  
• Other color option:
  You may be going for a dramatic mood, so deciding on an accessory with a contrasting color may be what is needed. Just make sure that this dramatic effect fits with the mood you are trying to produce.
  
  
• What about mood?
  Just as color can change or define the mood of your room, an accessory can enhance the mood you want to create. Does this object feel casual? elegant? contemporary? or elegant? You’ll want your accessory to set the right mood.
  
  
• What about size?
  Select accessories that fit the space and harmonize with the scale of the furniture its being placed upon. For instance, a very small object displayed on an extra large table would probably not look right or complete. Conversely, a very large object would look overpowering on a small shelf. Just take your time and look at accessories in proportion to your display space.
  
  
• Do you absolutely love it?
  Don’t get so caught up in the details of making all the décor work that you don’t even like the accessory that much. If you feel so-so about the ornament, you should probably pass. It’s your home and you want to love all the details.
